Our Wello team

Meet our team of health and wellness champions and customer service superstars

Our team works in the community outside of our day-to-day lives and we have a huge mission – to bring virtual healthcare to every province in Canada! Our nurse practitioners are licensed and trained to provide you with holistic care. They’re also available to provide expert advice and coaching to keep you well over the long term.

Julie Nicole Bakko

Wello Nurse Practitioner

Hailing from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Julie is known among the team for her passion and dedication.
She loves to serve others. We know this because she has four children of her own and was a surrogate mother to twins (!!). Julie has a gift for going above and beyond for her clients – this desire to help is what drew her to healthcare in the first place.

She graduated with Honours in Collaborative Nursing in 2002. For the past 15 years, she has worked in clinics and hospitals and continued her medical education, attaining both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree.

Kayla Kirkham

Wello Nurse Practitioner

Much of Kayla’s nursing career has been centered in acute hospital care in the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units. She prides herself in the “person over the problem” approach and is known for making genuine connections with people as she helps them live their best lives.

After finishing her Family All Ages program, Kayla practiced in primary care as a nurse practitioner in the community. She learned about Wello and its focus on bringing health maintenance and treatments directly to clients’ homes and offices and joined the team in 2017. Kayla enjoys spending time with her husband and son, travelling and getting outside as much as possible.

Stefanie O’Reilly

Interested in becoming an emergency nurse, Stefanie was committed early on to helping people in dire need and ensuring they pulled through to recovery. She brings a devoted spirit to Wello, always trying to help as much as she can, and her considerable field experience is a great asset to the team’s performance.

Stefanie completed her nursing degree in 2008 and began working as an emergency nurse before completing a master’s program and receiving her nurse practitioner designation. Stefanie enjoys working with Wello clients to help them create a healthier lifestyle. She also loves spending time with her family – especially gardening with her two little girls.

Rachel Slomp

Wello Nurse Practitioner

Rachel has worked as a registered nurse in the ER at Rockyview Hospital and the Children’s Hospital. She has specialized in paediatric pain and postpartum care. Working in Urgent Care and the ER has made Rachel passionate about primary care and addressing concerns to prevent ER visits.

Originally from a dairy farm in British Columbia, Rachel loves to travel with her husband and two sons and participate in volunteer work such as community outreach with local refugee families and internationally in clinics in Guatemala and Haiti.

Aimee Boutin

Wello Nurse Practitioner

Aimee brings 11 years of healthcare experience to Wello, with four of those as a progressive nurse practitioner. She was first drawn to healthcare in high school, where she experienced individualized care and assistance as a patient. At Wello, she’s able to provide that same quality of personalized care, in an innovative and meaningful way.

Aimee completed her Masters of Nursing for primary healthcare through the University of Saskatchewan. Aimee’s areas of practice have included primary care family practice, seniors’ health, executive healthcare and clinical research. She is an active advocate striving to advance the nurse practitioner practice, operating on the Board of Directors for the Nurse Practitioner Association of Canada (NPAC).

Outside of work, Aimee enjoys travelling, music, being active, trying new experiences and spending time with family and friends.

In Ontario, Sarah received both her Bachelor of Science and an M.Sc. in Nursing, as well as a primary healthcare nurse practitioner certificate. She has practiced as a registered nurse for over 10 years, focusing in acute care medicine.

Sarah has also worked at a clinic specializing in acute, long-term and primary healthcare; as a sub-investigator for early phase research, where she ran abuse liability and clinical trials; and as a consultant for a neurology clinic with a focus on epilepsy, migraines and concussions. She continues to consult and has received a designation as a Certified Clinical Research Professional by The Society of Clinical Research Associates (SOCRA).

In 2016, Donna obtained a master’s degree and pursued working in primary care as a nurse practitioner. She acquired her Unit Clerk certification and upon working in the community, found value and enjoyment in the healthcare sector, eventually joining the Wello team. Her favourite part of working at Wello? Her colleagues. She’s inspired each day by the amount of drive, motivation and passion her team has to grow Wello and touch as many lives as possible. In her spare time, she loves to travel, practice yoga, read and write.

Stephanie MacRae

Wello Care Coordinator

When Stephanie’s son was born, he had congenital conditions that had them in the hospital for the first several months of his life – and many trips throughout his childhood. Stephanie chose healthcare as a profession because she was overwhelmed and inspired by the care and kindness shown to her and her son by doctors, nurses, social workers, speech therapists, audiologists and support staff.

As a medical care coordinator, Stephanie provides health education to clients, schedules appointments, acts as a liaison between clients and nurse practitioners and ensures high standards of confidentiality are maintained. Stephanie believes in living a positive, healthy lifestyle, and that a holistic approach is key to attaining – and maintaining – optimal wellness.

Born and raised in Calgary, Stephanie graduated from the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program at Bow Valley College in Alberta and spent eight years working as an LPN in the Emergency Department and Acute Care Unit of an Alberta rural hospital. She has also worked as an LPN instructor, in administration and as a clinical coordinator.

Careers

Meet the leadership team

We’re building a legacy and innovating healthcare delivery. Our team believes that the health of employees is critical to the success of a company, but also on a personal level. Healthy people do amazing things, and we’re committed to supporting the health of our members and improving their lives at work and at home.

Vince Danielsen

President & Chief Executive Officer

Vince has firsthand understanding of the difference that good care can make for someone. After a hard-won battle with cancer as a teenager, he went on to spend eight years as a Calgary Stampeders receiver, winning Grey Cup Championships in 1998 and 2001. Football showed him the value of growing strong teams, and he learned that people achieve amazing things when they work together.

After football, he turned to his true passion and became a health entrepreneur. The personal care he received as a cancer patient helped him understand just how important the nursing sector was to delivering a new level of care to Canadians. This was a big driver in his founding of our nurse practitioner service, Wello.

Vince is dedicated to delivering new models of innovation to healthcare. As the leader of INLIV (our parent company), he’s responsible for the cross-sharing of innovation learnings with executive teams, showing how innovation and technology can be adapted to an ever-changing workforce. Vince speaks nationally at healthcare and technology conferences. He has spoken at Telus Health (Toronto), Wello Health Lab (Calgary), and the Benefits and Pensions Monitor Conference (Toronto), amongst others.

He also spearheaded the development of iLab, which dedicates space, resources and funding to pilot innovative products and services that change the way Canadians access healthcare. The iLab was responsible for the 2017 launch of INLIV’s newest service, Wello, which provides virtual healthcare for employees across the country.
